The Saint-Marcellin chapel: buried vestige of a monastic history, testimony to an ancient past
The Saint-Marcellin chapel, called the primitive chapel, predates the construction of the abbey. Today, access to it is prohibited. Partially buried, it is now two-thirds buried, a detail that reveals the extent of the earthworks undertaken by the monks. They modified the ground to level it, an essential step in the construction of the monastery.
