An Alpine farming region, Savournon has specialised in sheep breeding and fruit orchards.
The town was, for a long period, renowned for lamb with the creation of the so-called 'Préalpes du Sud' breed, which is sold under the name 'Sisteron lamb'.
With 4,500 hectares of orchards in the Southern Alps, apples and pears are grown sustainably under a wide variety of names (Golden, Boskoop, Canada rennet, Fuji, etc.).
