“I’m going to stage an opera; it’ll be ready in two years. In the meantime, I thought it would be nice to tour France to present a preview of my future opera. That way, when you come to see it in two years, we’ll be together again. For my first opera, I drew inspiration from Andersen’s *The Ugly Duckling*, but with a decidedly modern perspective—I won’t say any more than that. I’m accompanied by ducks who play off me, helping me understand, step by step, the entire dramatic and emotional arc of my opera.” Norbert
